Things look good! I can't seem to get the full height out of my jump, though. My 4/6/4 'Mech will only go up 20.4m (tested with vertical jump, so terrain unevenness wasn't the issue), when it should go 24m (6m for each jet).
Thanks Derk for setting up my account. I just found this game last week, and I've been having a lot of fun with it. I'd like to chime in with the other people who have been having problems with the campaign. Depending on the faction I choose, I go 1-3 missions before I can't launch the next mission; it just stops after I click the launch button for the Simulator or Dropship (but the game is using a processor at full capacity). This usually happens when I get a mission that infantry (the only unit I can select) can't do, such as extraction, and it happens for recon and sometimes assault. Has anyone gotten the campaign working without problems?
Thanks, #2 did the trick (sometimes after a couple tries). I'm looking forward to moving my way up through the ranks. Kudos to everyone who has worked on this game; it's as much fun as a $50 game even in its current state. Now if only the Vehicle Corps would actually give me a vehicle...
Glad you like it. Kudos help me get through the rough time (like right now ).
You aren't getting a vehicle, because there are only a few in the game and many times it doesn't pick any. Convince the artists, or better yet bring in a new one, to build the models and I can get them in the game.
I've got a couple of vehicles in the pipeline. Notably the scorpion light tank and the striker light tank.
Just need to get around to making them.
One thing that I've been thinking about is that it's possible to get two or more vehicles on a single texture sheet. That means you'd only need to load up a single texture to serve for all three vehicles (if they are from the same faction). This is possible because vehicles are much smaller than mechs and have a lower surface area.
So, I've been trying to think of groups of two or three vehicles which are likely to turn up in the same engagement so they can be built at the same time.
Not sure how you'd implement the idea though. Maybe a single folder with one set of faction textures and multiple .DSF files.
I have found that the odds of getting the vehicles sharing a texture set in the same mission is pretty small. So I just stick to single textures for single models. But if it makes it easier to develop them, then by all means share a texture file.
